Alichino is a manga created by the artist Kouyu Shurei originally published in Japan by Home-sha Inc. and Shueisha, translated and distributed by TOKYOPOP in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Volume one of Alichino is about a young lady searching for an Alichino to bring her brother back to life. She meets Tsugiri, a handsome young man who she thinks is an Alichino. Tsugiri turns out to be a mere mortal, but he does have a mysterious connection with these rare creatures — a connection that will bring danger to those around him.
Volume two centers on Tsugiri and his reluctance to dive into battle with the alichino. It is not until Enju, his beloved caretaker is kidnapped that he decides to set out on a journey with Ryouko (Enju's old friend) to find the alichino holding him hostage. The ending story involves a unique alichino called Yui, and Tsugiri is called to question the purpose of alichino and the reason for their existence on Earth.
Volume three is mainly an insider's view on Ryouko, Myoubi, and the strange alichino called Matsurika's past. The strange connection between Ryouko and Myoubi is revealed, and readers gain a personal insight into Ryouko's past.
Although the release date for volume four (both in Japan and the U.S.) has yet to be confirmed, artist Kouyu Shurei has said that this volume will be the last one in Alichino. The only hint to its contents is that it will most likely center around Enju and his life story. |
